It looks like finally the waters are starting to settle with Q4. As many people would agree, the maps we’ve been playing for the past 6 months have been less than stellar. Recently though, we’ve seen a few new maps with a great deal of promise. Maps like Placebo Effect, A Man Called Son, and Xfoo’s map are all helping to make this game worth playing again. In terms of mods, things are still up in the air. Q4max had one jacked up release recently and everyone cried and switched to xbattle. Xbattle isn’t without its flaws either though, so, IMO, the jury is still out. Honestly, these two parties should put their egos aside and just join up and work on something together. The q4 community is so small as it is, these two mod groups are fighting over a little more than a handful hardcore players! So silly! Anyways, we’ll continue to host one port of q4max and one port of xbattle until something changes. We also performed a lot of house cleaning and removed all previous beta and other random maps. If you want q4 to work, we suggest you do the same. Take a good hard look at your q4base dir and remove all the old junk. To keep in sync with that our servers, we also have a new map pack that has all the pk4 files (maps) you need to play on either of the JG servers. You’ll still need to go out and get the latest q4max and xbattle mods from the respective sites though.

The JG West Coast Invitational finally finished last night with some great games by K9-Meta, cK-Nomadic, and K9-Nine. The tourney ran a little bit behind schedule but it was well worth the wait. I’d like to give a big thanks to K9-InsaneKILL for making this happen. Not only did he brainchild the idea, but he picked the players, seeded them (with amazing accuracy I might add), created the rules, acted as an admin / scheduler, created daily news summaries, and the list goes on. I’d also like to thank Inside The Game and particularly iTG`RoME. He said he had fun doing it, but regardless, he did countless hours of superb casting. After all said and done, the first “Best of the West” JG Invite tourney was quite successful. All we need now is some Q4 GTV! Stay tuned for the Best of the West II.

Although there were games all the way up to midnight, unfortunately, we weren't able to get to the grand finals. Today the Jade Garden West Coast Invitational continues on its 5th day of grueling dueling action at 6PM Pacific as always. Please join us at #canine for new and improved scorebot action and shoutcasting from ITG.

Day 4 was one the most succesful days yet with some thrilling winners bracket matches being shoutcasted by none other than ITG' syn and his guest commentator Clock. The Grand Finals and most of the money spots (Top 5) have been rescheduled for Monday the 30th of January at 6PM Pacific.

Day 3 was a night that I could call the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Good was that there were some outstanding matches being shoutcasted, the Bad being that some people are still behind schedule, and the Ugly being the few matches where there was controversial decisions that I had to make in the fairest and most unbiased way I could. All in all, I think it was another successful night to a tourney that is nearly reaching its exciting climax.
